“Yes, in God’s Backyard” Learning Exchange and Future Forum

The Lehigh Valley is facing a housing shortage coupled with a growing population. As faith communities across the region seek revitalization and missional realignment in the face of church decline, this presents a unique opportunity to steward a future that builds communities of care.  With imagination and collaboration, people of faith can come together and be leaders in addressing the housing needs of our neighbors:  property-owning faith communities can consider adaptive reuse and/or land development possibilities, and other congregations can train and equip members as local housing advocates and supporters.  Saying “Yes, In God’s Backyard” is both a powerful public expression of faith and a tangible way to live out our love of neighbor.

Our YIGBY Learning Exchange and Future Forum aims to connect, organize, and resource people of faith and community leaders to continue early conversations about leveraging human and physical resources from across the region to make a noticeable, positive impact on housing needs and municipal policy.
