Turner St.\, Allentown\, PA 18102. \n  \nParking is available at the Masonic Temple lot on Linden St. by 16th St. \n  \nEveryone is invited to bring non-perishable food items and/or monetary donations to support our neighbors who are hungry and/or homeless. Donations will go to the Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank and the Lehigh Conference of Churches. \n  \nA light dessert reception will follow\, and people are invited to bring something to share that reflects their tradition. (Please label as halal\, kosher\, vegetarian\, vegan\, etc.) \n  \nWe are creating an interfaith choir for the evening. More information will be available soon for those who would like to join.

DESCRIPTION:“How can we expect the next generation of adults to be prepared to inherit our communities if youth today are going hungry and do not have a place to call home? Where did the empathy for our children and their families go?” \nDuring the ’22 – ’23 school year in Pennsylvania\, there were an estimated 46\,000 children considered unhoused\, and over 1\,000 of those children are located here in the Lehigh Valley. These figures represent the highest number ever recorded in Pennsylvania! \nSecure sources of shelter\, food\, water\, and rest are necessary for the healthy growth and development of any child. Lacking in any of these areas can cause developmental delays and trauma to their young\, developing minds\, and in the lives of teens. Saturday\, November 15th\, from 8:30 am-11:30 am\, join the Lehigh Conference of Churches at First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem as we host local and state experts to empower ourselves to make a difference in the lives of those 1\,000 children. \nThis event will feature a panel discussion featuring representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services\, local school districts\, Valley Youth House\, and resource tables to equip you with the knowledge to secure the future of the Lehigh Valley! DESCRIPTION:On the 1st Saturday of June\, race teams gather on West Prospect Street in Nazareth to satisfy their need for speed. This is not your typical Boy Scout event. Anything from coffins to modified shopping carts is allowed. You build it\, you race it! \nRacers compete for speed and design. Trophies and bragging rights are up for grabs! \nRegistration begins on January 1\, 2025\, and ends on May 24\, 2025\, unless the max of 54 registered cars is achieved. The early bird registration fee is $45 which increases to $60 on March 1\, 2025. \nPractice runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on race day with the race starting at noon. Double elimination will decide the winners. All team members must sign a waiver on race day to participate. \nNASBRA is run by the Lehigh Conference of Churches since 2022. Campbell Memorial Lecture Series on Thursday\, April 11th featuring Sue Pizor Yoder and Co.Lab.Inq. \nHow are emerging generations making meaning in their lives? A team of eight scholars and ministry leaders from across the denominational spectrum formed Co.Lab.Inq\, a collective learning laboratory focused on open-ended inquiry\, to explore this question. Together they interviewed over 200 people under 40 in search of the lessons they might teach us about belonging\, adversity\, legacy – and faith. \nThrough collaborative storytelling conversations focused on truth-seeking and meaning-making\, Sue Pizor Yoder and her co-authors Bonnie Bates\, Brandon M. Heavner\, Joanne P. Marchetto\, Jill Peters\, Stephen Simmons\, Janet Stahl\, and James Stahl identify the complex and varied ways Millennials and Gen Z are navigating life and crafting their stories. What do younger Americans have to say about belonging? Where do they find meaning? What challenges are they facing–and how do they confront them? DESCRIPTION:You are invited to participate in this year’s Pilgrimage on Saturday\, Dec. 9th. The walk began in 1960 as a Christian witness for peace. We welcome all persons of any age to join the Pilgrimage\, symbolic of the journey of Mary and Joseph. During the 10-mile trek from Nazareth to Bethlehem\, Pennsylvania we seek to reflect the non-violent life of Jesus Christ and his truth of forgiving love.
